31 Days of Halloween - Day 22 "28 Weeks Later"

Join us all October long as we spotlight different horror movies every day with a brand new video!

I never understood the hype for Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later. Sure, it was an interesting look at a "zombie apocalypse" but it really falls apart in the second half, becoming a different movie than what it sets out to be. While I still enjoyed it, I didn't understand the praise being heaped on it. Cut to 28 Weeks Later, and I've never been more blown away by a "zombie" film. It's just about perfect in every way.

While the digital, gritty style is still prevalent, the cinematographer goes out of his way to give us some really creative shots. It's not all just shaky cam and disorientation. But my favorite part of the film (outside of that amazing soundtrack) is the characters -- our emotional anchors for the film. We're actually given reason to be invested in these people, and it's more than just survival. While I hope that 28 Months Later eventually happens, I just hope that Weeks director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo takes the reigns instead of Boyle.

About zombievictim

I'd like my writing to further represent me as a person by providing different insights into the things currently on my mind. Whether it's writing about a movie, TV show, album, book, wrestling event, experience, or life lesson. I don't plan on making this a personal blog where I treat it like a diary. This is just supposed to represent… Me.
