31 Days of Halloween - Day 27 "The Descent"

Join us all October long as we spotlight different horror movies every day with a brand new video!

Horror films with good acting and great character psychology seems to be more and more rare as the days go on. Gone are the days of legendary modern directors taking the reigns of a horror film in order to flex their creative muscle (Rosemary's Baby, The Omen). So when The Descent was first released, it was a breath of fresh air. Not only does it have those things, but those elements can compete with the best non-genre film out there. It's just that good.

The film is absolutely beautiful thanks to Neil Marshall and his unique eye. The film never devolves into cheap horror, and only does things to truly terrorize the viewer whether its with the creatures themselves, or the overt claustrophobia. And the ending will have you thinking about the film over and over.

We'll just pretend that sequel doesn't exist.

About zombievictim

I'd like my writing to further represent me as a person by providing different insights into the things currently on my mind. Whether it's writing about a movie, TV show, album, book, wrestling event, experience, or life lesson. I don't plan on making this a personal blog where I treat it like a diary. This is just supposed to represent… Me.
